Cherry Picking
with Alexia Benn
In May 2021 following the completion of my fourth year of university, I decided to create a podcast. I was inspired to focus on making political discourse interesting and accessible while reflecting on regional concerns within the context of international issues. I created cover art for this; drafting, recording, and editing all episodes myself.

01
First Draft
This is the first draft for the podcast cover art, completed by hand in May 2021
02
First Edition
This is the digitally rendered design I created for the first season of the podcast.

03
Second Edition (current)
This is the current cover art being used for the podcast, designed by myself in May of 2022.
04
Episodes
23 episodes have been published since Cherry Picking was launched in 2021. Episodes may include interviews, such as with BC Green Party candidate Ned Taylor, or be solo, covering topics spanning environmental issues, Indigenous rights, monopolies, and more!

05
Ratings
The podcast currently boasts exclusively 5 star ratings across Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Reviews have also been left by listeners, which compliment the expertise, passion, and kindness which is focal to the production.
06
Retention
The first year of the podcast saw over 500 downloads. In the past year and a half since then, downloads increased by 192%, despite significantly reducing the rate of production due to shifting focus on career development.

07
Complimentary to my podcast is an Instagram account where I share culturally relevant social and political content.
08
TikTok
In addition to Instagram, I also created a TikTok account which features a variety of content blended between personal use and political activism. This video was published before the 2021 Canadian federal election to encourage voting among first-time voters and youth.
